[ALERT] New Zarqawi Audio to Air on Clandestine Radio Station
By Nick Grace
May 20, 2005

Global Crisis Watch Middle East correspondent Marwan Soliman reports exclusively in a special edition of the program that a new audio tape of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi will air this weekend on a clandestine radio station.

During a regular broadcast on Friday May 20 Soliman monitored an announcement that the station would carry a "new" Zarqawi recording over the weekend. The last recording from him appeared on the Internet on Wednesday, May 18, and it is not clear if the planned broadcast is the same tape or a new one.

Zarqawi audio and other messages from al Qaeda have traditionally been released to Arab news outlets like al Jazeera and on Web sites and Internet message boards tied to al Qaeda. This is the first time since Operation Enduring Freedom that a communique will be proliferated through a clandestine broadcast.

The special Global Crisis Watch program will be posted online on ClandestineRadio.com on Saturday. Monday's regular edition will carry analysis on the station and its significance.

Radio Al Tajdeed (Renewal Radio)
Radio Al Tajdeed is run by the London-based Party for Islamic Renewal, a Saudi exile group sympathetic with and widely believed to be tied to the Saudi branch of al Qaeda. The satellite radio program and the group's Internet campaign incite violence against non-Muslims, promote Holocaust denial, and publicize videos of the murder and beheadings of non-Muslims in Iraq, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. In May 2005 its studios were raided by British authorities during a live broadcast.
